Billboard is up

REACT, with donations made by residents of Roxbury, erected a billboard on Route 46, above Ridgline Motors today. The simple but powerful message tells people that now is the time to speak up and speak out or forever hold their breath. We hope they do for now is the time before the final closure plans for the Fenimore Landfill commences. Look for our next Fundraiser at the Barn on 3/19/14 where we will be raising funds for our next billboard. Thank you!!

Fenimore History, Failures, Issues and Concerns Document!

Fenimore Landfill, like the Rahway River Landfill, was a “fill and cap” project using contaminated soil, construction and demolition screenings, and other types of fill. When capped with Processed Dredge Material (PDM), it was to create a “proper cap.” Fenimore Landfill was also designated for redevelopment as a solar farm (part of New Jersey’s efforts to convert landfills and brownfields to solar farms).

Township Water Concerns

The scrubber system at the Fenimore Landfill, based on available data in January 2014, requires 50,000 gallons per week for a yearly volume of over  2.5 million gallons of fresh water will be used.  That's a lot of water.  The water used will need to be trucked out and disposed of.  An average of 8 truck loads per week with a yearly truck traffic at 832 runs on local residential roads that are NOT designed to handle truck traffic.

REACT Independent Air Testing Results

R.E.A.C.T. conducted it's own independent air testing results through NJDEP Certified labs. The results were surprising. Formaldehyde levels were over 100 times the NJDEP Benchmark. In addition, the following components were detected:  acetone, dichlorodifluoromethane, ethanol, methylene chloride. All of these VOC's should NOT be present in a residential neighborhood.
